It challenged me personally and professionally, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and helped me grow in ways I didn\u2019t expect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proyecto Peru is a community-focused organization that provides authentic cultural and linguistic immersion experiences in Cusco by offering enriching volunteering programs, internships, language immersion, tours, accommodation, cultural activities, and much more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While here, I had the privilege of working in a multicultural office where Peruvian, French, Dutch, British, and American colleagues collaborate every day. My responsibilities were closely aligned with the marketing experience I hoped to gain, and there was always a variety of projects to get involved in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My main ongoing task was creating authentic video and photo-based content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This included planning, capturing, curating, and posting content that reflected the mission and ethos of Proyecto Peru. Producing quality work takes time, and it was always my primary area of focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to content creation, my projects included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Organizing video and photo assets<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Composing copy for posts on social media platforms<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative projects such as flyer and brochure making<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updating and curating parts of our website<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assisting with client sales<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Directing clients from social media channels to the appropriate communication platforms<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Writing blog posts for the website<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The workload was always fair and balanced, and I feel grateful to have been part of a school that values connection, whether it\u2019s with coworkers, local partners, volunteers, or students. Strong operational systems and genuine human care define the workplace culture, and it shows. I saw how my coworkers supported one another and how friendships naturally form within the office. One thing I learned and highly recommend to other interns is the importance of setting specific, realistic, and relevant goals. These goals help maintain focus, guide productivity, and ensure that your work aligns with the organization\u2019s needs. Here are some of the goals I\u2019ve set for myself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep a record of projects on Google Sheets &#8211; include expected due dates and personal notes<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write down three things to improve on each day in my journal<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit every volunteer project that Proyecto Peru offers<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make an effort to connect with new students or volunteers during orientation every Monday<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend program social and cultural activities<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communication is key &#8211; communicate needs, wants and any struggles throughout the internship<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Setting goals like these kept me grounded and accountable while helping me grow throughout the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Home Away From Home<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9992-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Marketing and Operations Interns enjoying Cusco\" class=\"wp-image-1312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9992-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9992-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9992-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9992-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9992-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest blessings of my time in Cusco was my homestay family. Staying with them has added depth, comfort, and warmth to my entire experience. Home-cooked meals (something many people take for granted) have become a highlight of my day, especially after long hours of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every morning, I sat with my host mother, Lea, to enjoy breakfast and conversation. These small daily moments have become cherished memories. My family was incredibly flexible and supportive as I juggled travel, university work, and internship responsibilities. Marketing plays a crucial role in nearly every industry, and these skills will serve me well, whether I join a new company or even start my own someday. The lessons I learned here extend far beyond technical skills; they\u2019ve helped me grow personally, understand new cultures, build confidence, and create meaningful connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am grateful for this experience, for the people I\u2019ve met, and for the city that has become another home to me.
