Then camping under the stars should definitely be on your list!<\/em><br><br>If you love adventure and nature and have some free time from your volunteer work, then camping is the perfect idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Cusco region, home of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, has many beautiful places to camp. There&#8217;s nothing better than enjoying the beauty of nature with friends, family, or someone special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><em>In order to camp in Cusco, it is important to take into account the equipment you might need:  impermeable tent, sleeping bag, a lighter, wood (if the temperature is very low), torch and a knife (to open up cans). Take non-perishable food, cooking tools, and toiletries. No matter your age, you will feel rejuvenated by the beauty surrounding you. The rejuvenating feeling that this place offers comes from its Quechua name, which in English means <em>&#8220;Forever Young&#8221;<\/em>. Since December 2016, the area of Wi\u00f1a Wayna has been receiving visitors that spend the night there.<br><br>If you choose Wi\u00f1ay Wayna to camp, you will get to see Andean stairs and drain ducts for rain water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Choquequirao<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" src=\"https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-15-1024x538.png\" alt=\"Choquequirao Inca ruins\" class=\"wp-image-1431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-15-1024x538.png 1024w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-15-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-15-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-15.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Also known as <em><strong>Machu Picchu&#8217;s Sacred Sister<\/strong><\/em> because of its cultural and archaeological resemblance, these ancient ruins are located below the Salkantay glacier. You can find a camping area called <em>La Playa<\/em> (the beach) on the way to Choquequirao. The camping is located on 68 km, between Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu, on the banksof the Vilcanota River. This area covers more than 5.000 square metres that you can have all to yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Moray<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" src=\"https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-17-1-1024x538.png\" alt=\"Moray archaeolgical site\" class=\"wp-image-1434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-17-1-1024x538.png 1024w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-17-1-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-17-1-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/proyectoperucentre.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Blog-Images-17-1.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The gorgeous circular terraced bowl of Moray are thought to be an experimental agricultural nursery for the Incas, with different micro-climates allowing for different varieties of corn to be planted at deeper levels of the circular bowl. The site has a mystical feeling, like an agricultural amphitheatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">This area called <em><strong>Camping Moray<\/strong><\/em> is also located in the province of Urubamba, 61 km from the city of Cusco. The Apu Ausangate (Apu means god in Quechua) is the highest mountain of the Vilcanota Mountain Range with 6.392 masl. You can choose to go for the weekend (we&#8217;ll write a separate blog on that) or take a six-day hike if you&#8217;re fit enough. If you choose the latter, you will camp in places like Lake Pucacocha, the town of Urpispampa or the Ccatcca viewpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">These are only a few hikes you can do while volunteering in Cusco.
