Why Cusco?

As well as being one of the world’s premier destinations for hikers, history fans and nature lovers, Cusco is also one of the best cities in the world to learn Spanish. Peruvian Spanish is widely considered one of the most neutral and easily understood, with locals speaking more slowly and enunciating syllables more clearly than in many parts of Latin America. As a safe city that receives millions of tourists each year, Cusco offers plenty of opportunity to practice your language skills, whether haggling over delicious fruit in local markets or booking tours to Machu Picchu or one of the many other nearby historic sites. Cusco is also a popular destination for travelers from across South and Central America, so you will be exposed to a variety of accents and idioms from across the region.

Why Proyecto Peru?

While Cusco has many language schools, Proyecto Peru has over twenty years of experience in offering Spanish classes to travelers, volunteers, interns and long-term visitors. All of our teachers are native Spanish speakers from Peru with extensive experience and training. They blend classroom lessons with educational excursions to museums and markets in Cusco to give you practical experience using your skills. Our philosophy is to promote confident communication through combining grammar lessons, conversation practice and fun engaging activities. Classes are tailored to your level and goals, with regular assessments throughout your course. We also offer students the opportunity to stay with a local Peruvian family or with other students at our volunteer house. We also offer flexibility, ensuring students can fit excursions and tours into their time here in Cusco. This helps them use their new language skills to explore this amazing part of the world without worrying about missing classes.

“I have had a really good time at Proyecto Peru. I have done a week of Spanish Lessons with Mili and she was lovely and she taught us a lot in the short time we had. Me and my friend also stayed at a host family where they took great care of us. Proyecto Peru also organises social and cultural events every week which is really nice to connect with the other students.” – Emma

“I had an amazing time at Proyecto Peru. The staff were very friendly and helpful with everything. I really enjoyed the weekly activities as they were great opportunities to make friends with the other students and volunteers. My classes were very helpful and I improved my Spanish drastically. I really enjoyed the field trips we took so we could practice our Spanish outside of the classroom while also learning about the Peruvian culture. I would definitely recommend coming here!” – Nicole
