Veterinary Clinic

Project description

You will shadow and assist an exerience veterinarian at a clinic in Cusco that works primarily with dogs, but also with other domestic animals.

You will analyze sick and injured animals, assist in all types of surgeries, and help advise medical treatments. You will learn how to use the medical instruments and develop recovery programs together with the veterinarian.

There is also the possibility of assisting in health and sterilization campaigns. These campaigns are for the local community, to educate people about how to take care of pets and to encourage them to sterilize their dogs.

Do I need previous clinical experience?

Not necessarily, but relevant academic background is important. Your responsibilities depend on your level of study.

Can this count for university credit?

In many cases, yes. We can provide documentation required by your institution.

Will I be performing surgery?

No. Interns observe and assist under supervision but do not perform independent medical procedures.
