I spent 4 months in Cusco at Proyecto Peru. I was able to stay with a local family through their homestay program. When I arrived I didn´t know any Spanish, but now I am at a level where I can converse fluidly, and understand almost everything said to me in Spanish. 10/10 would recommend for anyone wanting to experience South American culture and improve their Spanish.

Had a great 3 weeks volunteering with Proyecto as part of our medical elective. They organised a placement for us at a private clinic, put us with a lovely host family, and also organised some amazing tours including Palcoyo and the Salkantay trek. Fue una experiencia hermosísima: desde la escuela de español, con clases fantásticas donde no solo aprendí el idioma, sino también la historia y la cultura, y donde hice amistades y conocí personas maravillosas.

Hasta el voluntariado con los niños, donde dejé un pedacito de mi corazón.

Y la host family, con la que realmente me sentí en casa y parte de una familia.

I spent close to 3 months volunteering at Perritos Soy Callejerito dog shelter in the mornings and learning Spanish with Proyecto in the afternoon. I had a great experience living with my host family, exploring Peru every weekend on guided trips or solo hikes, and socialising with the other students at salsa, volleyball, and game nights. Nous avons passé 1 mois à Cusco dans une famille d’accueil pour une mission de volontariat avec des enfants.

Dès le départ nous avons été accueillis par Enrique et l’équipe de Proyecto Perú avec une réunion d’information.

Par la suite, nous avons été en contact constant et si nous avions des problèmes il était là pour nous répondre. Des réunions sont organisé chaque semaine et il est possible de faire des activités sociales avec les volontaires d’autres missions si vous le souhaitez.

Vous êtes accompagné jusqu’à la fin de votre mission et le relai est très bien fait entre la famille et Proyecto Perú.

Merci à Enrique et son équipe pour l’organisation et la bienveillance tout au long de cette expérience.

Great place to spend time volunteering and exploring Cusco/all the things to do nearby! The team are super helpful and welcoming, the volunteer house is great and the sports/social evenings are fun.
