Our programs in the Sacred Valley (or Valle Sagrado) are the perfect escape to the mountains. About an hour and a half drive from Cusco, you are never too far from the city, but much closer to nature (and Machu Picchu). The valley offers access to endless hikes, so many mountains to explore and rural peruvian culture. Staying with a host family ensures you have a readily available support system and get to have an authentic Sacred Valley experience.
Most organic farming projects are situated in the Sacred Valley. The work you do will depend on the season and what is growing at the time.
Horses in the Sacred Valley are giving the people transport, plow the fields and provide tours for tourists. This family ranch provides a good living for about 10 horses and always need help looking after them.
In Ollantaytambo are many old ruins to discover and maintain. They always need hands with there daily activities.
The Sacred Valley offers one of the most stunning Peruvian landscapes. Stretching from Pisac to Ollataytambo, the valley follows the Urubamba river. It is at a lower elevation than Cusco, which means it offers more mild temperatures. The valley is full of ruins, ancient terraces, and so much history. The culture and traditions of the Incas are still very much alive here.
